This week, more from my WIP Bad Choices. Last week’s six was about Peyton’s lack of a wedding ring and ended with Cooper asking Peyton why he was there. Today’s six is his reply.

“I’m here for you, Cooper. I walked away from what the three of us had all those years ago and I never looked back. You and Devlin got engaged. I got married and had a kid. But you know, you were always there in my head and heart. When Dev died, I couldn’t deny the truth any longer.”

My six today comes from a WIP that has no name other than it’s temporary one of “Kissing Joan Collins.” In this scene, Logan’s best friend Chase dresses up as Joan Collins for Halloween and when he comes out of the bathroom, his costume is so good, Logan doesn’t recognize him at first.

Those legs, that ass, the fucking dimples.

“Jesus Christ, Chase! You look like Joan Collins on steroids!” he gasped, his heart upping its beat to triple time as he stared at his best friend’s perfect ass covered in skin tight designer label linen.

“Like it?” Chase’s amused baritone gave away his delight that he’d stumped Logan for all of a minute and a half.

“Fuuuuck, it’s enough to turn me straight.”

This week I have a taste of my Christmas Cowboys WIP, Cupid Christmas. This will be out just before Christmas and is the last in the Forbes Ranch Christmas Cowboys Series. In this snippet, Steve is about to risk everything and ask his former lover Dalton out to dinner.

Now, Steve had to face the man who had taken away his dreams of a loving relationship and set him on a path of soulless one night stands and chance encounters.  Dalton’s eyes held wariness and his posture had an unnatural stiffness, as if he’d braced himself for a physical blow. Considering his words only minutes before, Steve figured his former lover thought he might have stopped him in order to get in a few licks, verbal or even physical. Not that Steve had ever been the fighting type. He’d always been a lover not a fighter which is one reason he’d never fought to keep Dalton all those years ago.

“Something I can do for you, Steve?”

Last week, I gave you a taste of my super sekrit project Scrambling. This week I have a taste of the steampunk serial I’m taking part in. Lords of Aether will be launched in December and features myself and authors KC Burn, Charlie Cochrane, Jason Edding, Stephani Hecht and Jaime Samms. This six is from my inaugural post featuring my characters Anthony Banning and Jack Starr, former best friends and lovers.

 

“I never thought I’d see the day the great Jack Starr fell in love.”

Anger simmered in Jack’s seemingly casual pose. “This isn’t about how I hurt you, Anthony. This is about how we’ve been friends our entire lives. I need your help.”

With a sigh, Anthony gave up his minor thoughts of revenge.

This week we go to one of my WIPs. I’ve just turned in my MLR Press Christmas story Breath of Heaven and it will be out December 15. So now I’m only actively juggling four WIPs with the same number simmering on the back burner waiting to be called to the front. This six is from Scrambling.

Evan McAdam sat on the hard plastic chair in the hospital waiting room. Beside him sat the only man he’d ever loved. The man who had sobbed in his arms the night before. The man he’d made love to for the first and probably only time that same night.

To be honest, they’d made love all night and into the wee hours of the morning so it wasn’t just one time. Still, Evan knew it would probably never happen again.

Sorry I’m late! Was out all day yesterday at OCC RWA’s 30th Birthday Bash and didn’t get home until late. Finished up the day with a couple of workshops in pajamas in author suites. Came home and passed out without posting! Ack!

This week’s six is from Tales of the Darkworld Book 5, Common Ground. This book is a menage a quatre with hero and heroine Marius and Saire and secondary characters Weylyn and Keir Randall. Yes, the same Weylyn from this week’s release, Weylyn’s Gift. Since it’s release week for Weylyn’s Gift I thought I’d give you six from Weylyn instead of from Marius and Sair.  The setup: Weylyn and Marius have just found their mates having sex in the bathroom. They’re both turned on by it and Weylyn explains to Marius the different things that could happen if the two of them join in. Marius is a little shocked by Weylyn’s words.

I’m off to the West Hollywood Book Fair with Z.A. Maxfield and James Buchanan today so I hope to see all your Sixes when I get home if I’m not too wiped out.

This week’s continuing retrospective of Tales of the Darkworld gives us Ride the Lightning, Book 4. This book has an asshole hero and a heroine who tries to commit suicide. It also gives us mating in shifted form. Dragon form.

As the flames died away, Emily found herself pressed to the dirt of a hay field, Vahid still throbbing within her as his body covered her from behind. With a moan, her shaky legs gave out and she sprawled in the dirt. Vahid landed on top of her, his heavy body wracked with shudders. After a moment, he pulled his cock free of her pussy and slumped beside her, their sweaty bodies still touching. They lay still and panting, smoke swirling around them for long minutes.

The aftermath left them both limp and dazed.

Just for grins, I found this on a search of the words “dragon sex.” In Ride the Lightning Vahid is a black dragon, but Emily is red so the artwork doesn’t really work here, but it’s amusing nonetheless.

Continuing on with my retrospective of the Tales of the Darkworld, this week’s book is #3 Fire Season.  The one thing I can say about Fire Season is it seems to be the book that everyone loves. It’s the story of a straight black dragon, Holden Antaeus, whose mate is a man, green dragon Garret Renquist. This six sort of sums up what Fire Season is all about.

Garret’s mouth curved in a reassuring smile that made Holden feel better the instant he saw it. “Holden, I’ve been with a lot of women and men, but I don’t know how to do mates either. Sure, I know how to kiss a man, how to suck his cock, how to fuck him, and how to let him fuck me, but that doesn’t mean I know how do those things with someone who is the most important person in the world to me.
